UPDATE 3/5/2009:

You guys are awesome! This baby boy now has ample clothes for his first year. What Chele and Craig could really use are physical gift cards for stores in their area: Wal-Mart, K-Mart and Kroger.

Well kids, I guess you all lose. I don’t think anyone guessed March 7th or 8th. I wonder which side of the time change he’ll pop out on. LOL

My water broke. It’s a good 30 minutes to the hospital so we are going to drive to that side of town, putz around and see what happens.

I guess hubby will post an update tonight or tomorrow.

The church they attend is also willing to vouch for them and accept donations on their behalf as well, so write to Michele or me for that contact information. Most of all, keep the prayers coming! Please pray for Craig to have wisdom and guidance in finding a job and interviewing.

Is Nolan definitely going to be his first name? I think it’s a great name!

  2. Chele, so good to see that you are getting the things you need (and want!) for little Nolan James…Such a lovely name. What a fun shower you’re having!:)

    Hello All!

Sorry I’ve not posted much. I’ve been trying to take care of some stuff.

Today I received a cute little outfit from Joan J! THANKS JOAN!

I think we are pretty well settled on Nolan but not positive on James yet. I told hubby y’all may have decided for us. LOL

    Have a great weekend!

Michele, I am sorry that I have not been here for a long time. You are very welcome – I just thought the Construction Layette was so cute. Nolan James is a beautiful name, and I’ll vote for that! ;-) As someone said above, we all get to go shopping for cute stuff, and don’t have to play the shower games (and this way we don’t OD on snacks). Love to all of you!

  5. Renee Morin

Oooo, I like that name, too! And yeah, I can OD on snacks at home…LOL.
Give my love to the girls, and hug each other for me, Michele and Craig!

    Love,
    Renee

Michele, I think Nolan James is a very good name, too. I gets my vote also. It’s fun to shop for baby stuff and not have it be MY baby I’m shopping for LOL.

  7. Claire Espeland

Thought I’d drop in and see if things are working out well. CChele, bet you didn’t know you were so well loved? Blessings on youand your family.
    Claire

It’s great fun being involved, Michele!

I guess I need to apologize for having gone missing from my own shower. I’ve had some medical ups and downs. I swear this doctor is causing my blood pressure to go up and down! Now I failed my glucose test and have to take the three hour one but after giving me the bad news, they forgot to call me back. Hmph.

I had a very “surprise” box come in the mail on Friday. It was from Melody. Not only did she send the baby 7 onesies that she had tie dyed, she included a Christmas gift for each of the girls and something extra in the card. :) The girls were so excited to finally see presents under the tree and drove me nuts so I let them open the baby’s present. Of course they wanted to keep going after that but I told them we had made a deal. LOL Kids! THANKS MEL!!

Words can’t tell you all how much you have done to make things easier for us.

  10. Michele

I have more to be thankful for today!

I received two cute little outfits and two bibs from Twyla (Hope43). The bibs have me rolling. I can’t decide if I like the “Will work for cookies” or camouflage “Major Trouble” one better. Thanks so much to both of you!

I also received a very special card from Esther and her DH Bob today. It contained an extra special piece of paper that will be very helpful. Thanks a bunch Esther!

We had a get together at my sister’s yesterday and my SIL brought me back a garbage bag filled with baby clothes from my girls. I worked at Target through my last pregnancy and after so my youngest had a lot of nice new clothes. Now I am able to gift them to my friend who is also expecting a surprise baby girl (and the father is about to lose his job). It feels really good to be able to help someone else!

    Hugs and love to all!
    Michele

  11. Michele

I’m taking a moment to thank you all again. You’ve made a huge difference for us and we are truly thankful for each and every one of you.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

    Michele and Family

  12. Donna Bailey

Chele I pray you and the family had a great Holiday and that you are well

  13. Michele

    Hello All!

I have another thank you to post and a funny to go along with it.

Yesterday I received a big tube of Balmex-the best diaper creme! Thank you Renee!

My sister told me about this years ago (like 4 kids ago)and said a friend of hers used it on her son when nothing else worked. I thought she was calling it “ball mix” which totally cracked me up and I was trying to figure out why I’d want to use it on a girl… yes, I’m blond!

  14. GW

That is hysterical, Chele! Those sound-alikes can make for some Pretty Interesting Interpretations!

  15. Renee Morin

ROFLOL, that’s great! Are ya gonna tell the baby about that when he gets older?

  16. Oh my gosh, what exciting news for you!
Congrats, congrats, congrats to all of you!

    Whoo hooo!

  17. Dorothian Meyer

O.K., Michele, It’s been 14 days since you have posted. Are you all right? What’s happening? Praying for you and your family.

  18. Michele

Hello All! Wuvie! It’s nice to see you. ;) We are okay Dorothian!

I have another thank you to offer today! Just when I thought the gifting was finished, another showed up! We received a box today from wantabegardener! She sent 2 sweat suits-a 2 pc and 3 pc, with matching socks, a cute little onsie with matching pants and a crib sheet. All are really cute! Thanks Diana!

Babies’ wardrobe is now stretching into winter of 2009/2010! You all have been an absolute Godsend! I have to say, after all the pink and purple clothes I have washed in my mothering, seeing all this blue and green with tan and orange mixed in, is really quite neat and somewhat odd. LOL

On the baby front…I will be 31 weeks tomorrow! 9 weeks to go! I keep telling my body to hold out until week 38 and we’ll be happy. LOL I skipped my Dr. appt last week because the weather was nasty and I didn’t feel like letting them mess with my mood and my numbers! I feel fine and the baby is really active! I have another appt next Thursday.

I’m glad you all are keeping up with the prayers. Hubby has an interview tomorrow! It would be over an hour each way and he might have to live there during the week for a bit but at this point, any offer will be a great offer! It’s a management position so we are hoping he’ll get a fair offer. We are hoping for any offer!! I never would have believed he’d be out of work for 9 months!

In the last couple of weeks, I got my state/county taxes filed for last year and I put in my continuing education hours and test so I can keep my Cosmetology license. It’s money I hate to spend right now but I hate to throw away the last 20 years. I still need to renew my license before the end of the month. I’ll probably need to go back to work right after the baby is born and I’m thinking I may get back into doing hair.

I also built a new website for my neighbor which allowed me to keep mine up and running for another year. Hubby and I have also been helping him here and there at his shop and with computer related issues to keep his business running smoothly. He has been really good to us and we are tying to do so in return.

And that is where we are now. Hope I didn’t blind anyone. :)

    Hugs to all!
    Michele

  19. Michele

I thought I’d check in before someone comes looking for me. :)

Craig’s interview went well but he got a “thanks but no thanks” a few days later. He’s been dancing with another company via the phone and email and they should be setting up an interview soon.

I went to the doctor on Thursday and my blood pressure was up again. It’s no wonder since I dread seeing that doctor as she has no personality whatsoever. She seems to look at the numbers and forget I’m a person. LOL So anyway, she sent me off to the hospital for a blood test, another 24 hour urine and to get the baby monitored. The baby is fine of course. And my blood pressure was below normal by the time I left the hospital….

I am in week 33 now with 7 weeks and 3 days to go! We are into month 8!! I’m getting eager to see the next month come and go so it will be safe to deliver.

I have another THANK YOU too! Antoinine (Cleveland) sent me four of the funniest printed onesies! I think our favorite is the one that says “Mommy’s current favorite”. Whenever the kids question why one gets and another does not, that is what we always say..”because so and so is our favorite”. :)

    Not much else to report.

  20. Michele

5 weeks and 3 days to go! 38 weeks falls on March 5th and I’d be fine with that too. LOL

I have to go take another glucose test in the morning. Hopefully this one is fine. If not, I have to take the three hour test.

Even though my blood pressure is still up and down, I don’t have protein so we are past that hurdle.

I still don’t like this doctor either!

Oh, I forgot to post a thank you! lilyhostaky sent us a package last week with the cutest onesies in it! I know I thanked her but I forgot to post.

    Love to all!
    Michele

  21. Michele

We got a big present from the UPS man today! He brought us a travel system (stroller/car seat and base) from Dea and her family. It is a really super nice set and was desperately needed! THANK YOU DEA AND FAMILY!

I guess it’s safe to have the baby now. LOL Just kidding. I have four weeks to go. :)

The preschool kids (where Maddie goes) had a baby shower for us on Thursday. We now have two cases and another pack of diapers, more clothes, some toys and bottles and a little lovey blaket with a rattling puppy head. :)

    We have truly been blessed!

There is still no news on the job front but we are hopeful.

    Hugs to all!
    Michele

  22. GW

Hey, for those of you subscribed to comments, I’ve posted an update. Come see!

  23. Michele

The UPS man strikes again! This has been the longest and best shower I’ve ever been part of in my life! I think my girls are getting jealous of their rotten little brother and he’s not even here yet.

Today we received the baby monitor that was on our wish list compliments of Kell! THANK YOU KELL!

I hated that it was so expensive but considering that our house is so long (and noisy!) and that anywhere in the yard is so far from the bedroom, hubby said we’d really need a monitor with better range and clarity (not to mention the privacy guarantee). It’s also really freaky to hear a neighbor talking to their baby on your own monitor and wondering what they’ve heard from on theirs! That happened at our other house all the time! The monitor is good to 1000 feet and also rechargeable!

I’ll be 38 weeks on Friday. Only 2 weeks to go if we make it the full 40!

You all have been wonderful and generous beyond words. Thank you just isn’t enough.

    Michele

  24. Gourd

All I remember is that he’s almost here! Mid March right? Just came to check up on you.

    Antoinette

  25. Michele

    Hello Gourd!

Official due date is March 19.

I go see Dr. no personality in a couple of hours for my 38 week check in. I get a whole ten minutes of her time and then I’m back out the door…

    Hugs,
    Michele

  26. SoCal

Sure hope the doc is in a positive mood today for you. You don’t need any more stress this close to your due date.
We are all pulling for you and wish you a gentle, but swift delivery. Thinking of you everyday.

    Hugs,
    Donna

  27. Michele

    Hi Donna!

Much MUCH better appointment today. We talked for about an hour (rather than my allotted 15 mins) and got some stuff out in the open. I think our last big hassle is having an IV during labor. She thinks it’s necessary and I don’t. LOL

The baby is still head down and I’m ready whenever he is. :) I’m 38 weeks and measuring 41 but I’ve been measuring big all along. She thinks he might pass 9 pounds if I make it to 40 weeks. Maddie was 8.12 so not a huge difference.

Today we received gift card from wvdaisy (Lana and hubby Brian)! She was going to buy us the diaper pail but it’s cheaper locally with no inflated shipping. Now we can pick up the diaper pail and some refills. :) THANKS LANA!! (no stinky diaper smell in my bedroom YAY!!).

    Love ya all!
    Michele

Hey everyone, Michele just posted that she is headed to the hospital to have the baby. Her water broke this morning.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers at this time that everything goes well.

It’s time to welcome Nolan Meyers to the world.

    Donna

  29. GW

You know, I was just thinking this morning that he was going to be born soon, maybe even today. How about that? Baby time! Thanks for letting us know, Donna! We have been out all day and I haven’t checked DG.

  30. Renee Morin

Woohooooo! He fooled us all, didn’t he? Prayers for Mom and Baby that all goes well!

  31. Michele

Hello everyone! We are home and well!

Nolan arrived at 12:38am, just making his birth on March 8th! The little (or not so little guy) weighed in at 8 pounds and 13 ounces and was almost 21 inches long.

I posted a few pics on DG. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/960436/

I’ve been up since early yesterday morning and I’m pooped. I’m taking my baby for a nap. I’ll say more when my two good brain cells cooperate.

    Love and thanks to all,
    Michele

  32. GW

Awwww, Chele, he’s beautiful! Our own little badboy. :)

  33. mg

Congratulations Michelle! I’m so happy eveything went well.

I’m no longer a subscriber, so I can’t see your pictures, but I bet he is just as beautiful as your daughters.

    Thanks for posting the pics!!!!!!

Hi guys! I thought I should pop in and let you all know we are doing just great!

I didn’t get much sleep last night. I’m in the dairy way big time and the little guy is having a hard time with a bottle that is bigger than his head. LOL Nothing we have not dealt with before. It’s just so unfair for a new baby to figure out the way things work, then someone completely changes it on him. :)

We went back to the hospital Tuesday for shots and his hearing test and PKU and the nurses were amazed that he’s still at 8 pounds and 12 ounces. Most babies lose about ten percent then gain it back. We go to the pediatrician tomorrow to get him checked out.

I’m thrilled to say that my hubby is at an interview right this very moment. Don’t forget the prayers when you have time. :)

A few more gifts have rolled in since Nolan rolled out. grins. Melissa_Ohio sent him a crab rattle, one of those pacifiers that snaps shut if it hits the floor and the cutest stuffed mule! It’s his first stuffed animal! THANKS MELISSA!

We also received a gift card from Dispatcher1. That will come in very handy for whatever we need or run out of. We are already on the second box of wipies and second pack of diapers. LOL THANKS LOU!!

I was also alerted of a deposit to my Paypal account, courtesy of daylily_ohio. I’m going to leave it sit in the account until we need it. THANKS JULES!

Kimberley double gifted me. :) She had made a deposit a month or so ago to my Paypal account and we left it sit. I never did manage to find the rest of my breast pump and was holding out buying one because it was running $50-80. I was updating my list on the 4th when I noticed 2 companies had it for $39.99! I jumped on it and arrived the day I went into labor. Perfect timing! THANKS KIMBERLEY!

Everything is so much appreciated. It’s so wonderful to have all these cute little clothes sitting here. And the stroller and car seat-can’t live without them! The baby monitor has given me some freedom and security so I can get things done. What can I say about the diaper pail?? LOL You all are so wonderful!

I promise to post more pictures soon. The last few days we’ve spent a lot of time resting, enjoying and settling. :)

They say it takes a village to raise a child. It took a garden to get me through the pregnancy and you have all made things so much better and happier for us.

    Thank you.

  37. Michele

Wow! It’s been nearly a month since I checked in!

Nolan will be one month old on Wednesday the 8th. He’s growing like a weed which is no surprise as he wants to eat constantly. For the most part, he’ll sleep 2-3 hours but then he wants to eat for an hour. Sometimes I can get a whole three hours to myself if he gets a pacifier. LOL

Another gift rolled in during the week. twinlakeschef sent Nolan the cutest little outfit, dark blue corduroy pants with a matching lined plaid flannel shirt with a hood. It will be perfect for winter! She also included an extra gift for mom and dad. :) Thanks Arlene!

You all have been so generous and thoughtful!

I haven’t said much yet but I should be starting a job in the next week or so. I’m waiting on my background check and a company laptop to arrive. I’ll be working from home so I won’t have to leave my little guy and I’ll have a flexible schedule. Keep your fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong and prevents me from starting.

We’re still waiting and hoping that Craig gets his second interview with “that” computer company so he can also work at home on a company laptop.

I’ve been joking that we can both work at home and get fat(ter)! LOL
