Chat me up

Mandi just had to turn me back on to Yahoo Messenger, doggone it. They have come a long way since version 5! Check out my fun new avatar:

Yahoo! Avatars
Complete with jammies and cat ears. 🙂

Tonight we used their voice chat to go through a SEO (Search Engine Optimization) training session led by Mandi. well, I should say the other participants used voice chat; I could not get any of my mics to work on the notebook, so I just typed my questions and responses to the group. Good thing I type quickly.

I have been using Trillian since it offers one interface allowing for simultaneous use of AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ and IRC chat networks. I really like the one-stop shopping Trillian offers, the ability to put all my contacts, regardless of which chat client they use, in one list. It saves on system resources, not having to run independent instances of each client.

That said, this new Yahoo is pretty cool. Mandi said it will soon allow for chat with other networks. That would be great. I’m not uninstalling Trillian just yet, but I’m looking at other options.

Oh, and now Google has their own chat client, Google Talk. I dowloaded the installer, but haven’t installed. The more I read about it, the less I think I really need yet another chat client.
