About the size of it…Stella’s paws

Our girl’s pretty big in the paw department. We wonder how big she’ll be when she’s full-grown. Here are Stella’s paws as compared to a typical 14.5 oz. can of diced tomatoes:

Another comparison with a different view of the same can…

Her nose is growing longer, too…

It’s so fun to watch a mutt grow up, because you never really know what it’ll look like in a year or two.  Forrest’s mama had it right when she said, “life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” Kinda like mutts!

  1. Brilliant basis for comparison – we can all relate to food. :)

  2. Oh, but your family is used to big dogs so she will fit right in :)

  3. Ah, but big is a relative term…You’re comparing our dogs to pugs. I’m comparing ours to greyhounds and great danes! LOL

When Stella gained a pound in a week, the vet said she’d probably end up 50-60lbs. My friend Dea said her paws are pretty skinny and she probably won’t get too big.

It’s just hard to estimate because they can surprise ya!

  4. wait until you see how big LD and I get after we move in!

  5. How much do greyhounds weigh on average?

  6. Hah, Joan!!

Tami, males are typically between 60-90lbs and females between 60-75lbs. They’re just very tallllll. For comparison, Emma weighs 53lbs and Sarah about 32lbs. Last time Stella was weighed at the vet’s, she was 18lbs.

  7. Update: Just now, she weighed in at 21.4lbs. She did eat her breakfast before this, including water in her kibble, but she’s still probably a solid 20.8lbs. I wonder how much she’d weigh if she hadn’t been sick with that kennel cough.
