A book and a mug

Mmmmmmm…..

Sweet Caribou goodness…It’s a cold, windy, rainy January day in Ohio, but I am snug in a leather chair with a good book and a mug of Daybreak Blend. Since I finished Stephen King’s Lisey’s Story a day ago, I’m reading The Good Guy, by Dean Koontz.

I saw my chiropractor this morning and the subject of books came up. It turns out he’s a big Stephen King fan, too. We talked about The Dark Tower series, among others. One of the things that came up is how the longtime King reader will see characters and concepts from his various books show up in others, such as the priest from Salem’s Lot appearing in Roland’s world.

I never would have pegged Dr. Craig as a Stephen King junkie. It sure made for a fun conversation! I appreciate that he doesn’t pack his schedule so full he can’t take time to talk a little.

Well, back to my book…

Did you enjoy Lisey’s Story? I have not read it yet.

Yes, I did enjoy it! Parts of it were painful, as any love story will be when you know the partner has died. This is disclosed from practically page one, so I am not giving anything away. It’s a series of flashbacks as Lisey remembers her extraordinary, extraordinarily troubled, husband and the tale unfolds in the past even as it is fulfilled in the present. It reminds me a little of Insomnia and even the Dark Tower books as it involves other, if not parallel, universes. I’d recommend it.
