That lovely little stanza came to mind tonight and thanks to the fine Bartleby website, I was able to correctly attribute it. And thanks to Google, I learned that the brief stanza I knew from garden plaques was actually part of a larger poem. Enjoy…

The slicks and other ads for stores can be amusing. A Wal-Mart ad tickled me enough to post about it a few months back. This time, it’s a Value City (AKA Schottenstein’s) ad that caught my attention. It had me grabbing my camera when I saw it while perusing the contents of our weekly ad bag at the coffee shop last night…
Soup beans with smoked turkey
I love beans. And when I make bean soup, I tend to make a bunch at a time, freezing most of it in serving-size and 4-cup containers for later use. Last time I made it, I didn’t think about just how many beans I’d soaked overnight…And the resulting batch of soup beans took up two stock pots to cook! I used smoked turkey legs to give the good, smokey flavor without the fat of ham. Here’s the recipe.

Interesting tidbit…I went to the homepage of A Prairie Home Companion via a Google search and this is what came up. Looks like they’ve been hacked, for that is the correct URL and the cached copy of the page shown in Google’s same search results looks fine.

Update: Just stopped by there again around 2:30pm and it looks like they’re back online. Bet that was a stressful night at their server’s HQ.
Camera troubles
As if all the ups and downs of this last few weeks aren’t enough, Wednesday evening my camera acted wonky. I don’t need this right now.
